The management of the University of Ibadan on Monday shut the institution and directed the students to vacate the campus on or before 6 p.m. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the students had earlier taken to the streets of Ibadan in protest, alleging insensitivity on the part of the university management. But the university’s Director of Communications and Publication, Olatunji Oladejo, told NAN that the closure became necessary in other to avert crisis. He said that the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Idowu Olayinka, had convened an emergency meeting of the university Senate to review the circumstances surrounding the development. “The University of Ibadan in its wisdom has decided to shift the examination earlier scheduled for June to July, 2017,” Oladejo said. He said that undergraduate students are to resume back in school on July 17, while the post graduate students would continue to stay on campus for their research activities. Man United won the match 2-0, to book their place in next season’s Champions League after finishing sixth in the Premier League. Earlier in the season, Man United won the Community Shield as well as the League Cup. Dressed down Wearing simple white garments, and having changed his hair to be more respectful, Pogba went to a Mosque in Mecca where he was spotted by fans. The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has cautioned prospective applicants seeking employment into the service not to pay any money to any person or group of persons. NIS Comptroller-General, Mr Muhammad Babandede, gave the warning in a statement signed by the service Spokesperson, Mr Sunday James, on Monday in Abuja.  On Monday, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Fire Service, NIS and Nigeria Prisons Service boards announced approval for recruitment. The world's first robocop has been unveiled in Dubai and will be patrolling streets from tomorrow onward. The 5 ft 5in tall robot can read facial expressions and will be used by members of the public to report crime and pay traffic fines.  Multi-lingual crime-fighting robots will make up a quarter of the city's police force by 2030, according to officials.  The robocop is part of the Emirates' planned robot police force and was unveiled at a three-day long Gulf Information Security and Expo Conference on Sunday. Police attack protestors seeking release of IMN leader Police in Nigeria fired water cannon at protestors in Nigeria demonstrating against the continued detention of Sheikh Ibrahim el-Zakzaky and his wife in the capital Abuja. The protest, by the Academic Forum of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria, is one of many such demonstrations in recent weeks to have come under attack from the authorities. They have been held without charge and mainly incommunicado following their arrest during a savage military assault against the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) in December 2015. Both were shot during the attack in Zaria in which at least 1000 IMN supporters, including three sons of the couple, were killed and many properties and religious spaces belonging to the IMN and its followers destroyed. Nemesis has caught up with a syndicate that specialised in diverting goods at the Tin Can Port Apapa Lagos. The syndicate, including four men and a woman, was exposed after they attempted to bribe police officers attached to Festac Division, Area E Command, Lagos, with the sum of N250, 000 after they were arrested on Wednesday while allegedly attempting to divert a trailer load of bags of cashew nuts worth N13.7million meant for export. In a suit (FHC/ABJ/CS/385/17) filed by his lawyers, Ballason’s Chambers at the Federal High Court, Abuja, Mr. Maikori, is seeking damages against Governor El-Rufai to the tune of N10 billion. According to details of the suit, which came up for hearing before the trial judge, Hon. A 22 year old Onyinyechi Osoneye, along with six other suspects have been arrested by the Decoy Team of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos Police Command over the sale of a day old baby for the sum of N250,000 to Mr and Mrs Ike Nwata. Three Suicide bombers who attempted to attack the Department of Works at the University of Maiduguri at about 1:10am were killed. Two university security personnel on duty were also affected, with one killed by the bombers. One Godwin Udoaka, a driver attached to the judiciary in Akwa Ibom is currently battling for his life at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, after he was allegedly shot in the face by a soldier in Uyo. According to PREMIUM TIMES, the shooting occurred on we dnesday around 12.45 p.m. at Asutan Street, off Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo. Witnesses told PREMIUM TIMES that they saw a white Toyota Hilux belonging to Wizchino Engineering Ltd, with the license plate number ABC 222 AY, pulled up suddenly behind a 14-seater bus belonging to the Akwa Ibom State Judiciary. A 22-year old man, Onyeka Mba has been arrested and charged before a Lagos court for his involvement in breaking into the anti-robbery section of a Police Station and stealing money, phones and others valuable belonging to officers.  The incident happened at Olosan police division in Mushin, Lagos. According to police, during the attack, officers including Femi Elebute and Shittu Babatunde lost their money and phones. It was gathered that some gang of robbers arrested were brought into the station in the night and while some officers attached to the station went out on patrol, the robbers ransacked the whole place in search of valuables and escaped.
