No fewer than 20 vehicles and four commercial motorcycles were, on Wednesday afternoon, burnt when a tanker laden with petrol fell and spilled its content on the Festac Link Bridge in Awuwo Odofin LGA of Lagos State. The fire started at noon and raged for about an hour. Fire fighters arrived at the scene about 30 minutes later but did not have enough water to quench the fire. A witness, Mr. Olufemi Popoola, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the tanker, coming from Apple Junction and going to FESTAC Town, was ascending the bridge but suddenly rolled back and fell. The impact of the fall separated the tank from the truck’s body, resulting in an explosion, according to Popoola. He said some residents and passers-by attacked the fire with buckets of water to no avail. A Zambian player whose goal against Super Eagles was disallowed, lost his daughter during the world cup qualifying match in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. Augustine Mulenga lost his daughter while he was in action in Nigeria during the World Cup qualifier match which his country lost. He scored but his goal was disallowed by the referee.  The forward broke down in tears at the burial of his little girl today, at New Leopards Hill Cemetery in Zambia.. A kidnappers den was on Tuesday uncovered in Ahmadiyya area of Lagos State. The den was reportedly discovered by a street sweeper in the area off the popular Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway. The building being used for the alleged nefarious activity was uncompleted. The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered that a $37.5m mansion on Banana Island, Lagos linked to a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government. The court also ordered that the sums of sums of $2,740,197.96 and N84,537,840.70 realised as rents on the property should equally be forfeited to the Federal Government. The orders were made on Monday by Justice Chuka Obiozor, following a motion on notice argued before him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. The anti-graft agency had on July 19, 2017, obtained a court order to temporarily seize the property designated as Building 3, Block B, Bella Vista Plot 1, Zone N, Federal Government Layout, Banana Island Foreshore Estate, which is said to have 24 apartments, 18 flats and six penthouses. An undisclosed number of people have reportedly been killed at St Phillips Catholic Church in Ozubulu, a town in Ekwusigo LGA of Anambra state. A witness said, some gunmen who concealed their identities with masks broke into the church around 6am when the first mass was going on. Nigerian regulators intervened last week to save Etisalat Nigeria from collapse after talks with its lenders to renegotiate a $1.2 billion loan failed. Abu Dhabi’s Etisalat has terminated its management agreement with its Nigerian arm and given the business time to phase out the brand in Nigeria, the chief executive of Etisalat International told Reuters on Monday. Nigerian regulators intervened last week to save Etisalat Nigeria from collapse after talks with its lenders to renegotiate a $1.2 billion loan failed.
